Crafted from specialized ARC flash rated hi-vis high-quality materials this clothing not only resists catching on fire. Flame retardant safety workwear is especially important for people who work in dangerous environments where they might be exposed to flames or heat, such as firefighters, electrical workers, and welders.
Our men's and women flame retardant shirts, pants, jackets, overalls are all manufactured to Australian Safety Workwear Standards. Fire Retardant Workwear Clothing - FAQ’s
What Australian safety standards do your Fire-Retardant FR garments meet?
Our range of flame-retardant workwear are manufactured to comply with strict FR standards including:
- AS/NZS 4602.1 & 1906.4: High-visibility safety requirements for day/night use. This is the core standard for most high visibility workwear apparel.
- AS/NZS 4836:2023: Published in March 2023 this supersedes the AS/NZS 4836:2001. This standard manages risks like electric shock, arc flash and arb blast when working with electricity.
- NFPA 70E / NFPA 2112 & IEC 61482: Arc flash and thermal protection (HRC2 / PPE 2 & PPE 3 ratings).
Please refer to product data sheets for exact specifications of the garments.
What is the difference between inherent FR and treated Flame Retardant?
Generally inherent Fr workwear is the preference, the main difference between the 2 fabrics is that inherent flame-resistant fabric is made from fibers that are naturally flame resistant such as modacrylic, aramid or FR viscose and hance are more durable and protection lasts longer hence more expensive than treated FR workwear. Treated FR garment is normally chemical treated with a chemical to make them flame resistant and generally this property diminished with wash and wear as the chemical erodes and washes away.
What popular Flame Retardant garments do you recommend for mine and industrial sites?
We supply a wide range of industry-standard protective gear, including:
- Pants: SYZMIK Men's FR HRC2 Taped Cargo Pant (ZP521) and the classic Bisley Original 8-Pocket Cargo Pant (BPC6007).
- Shirts: SYZMIK Men's Orange Flame HRC2 Spliced Shirt (ZW143), KingGee Women's ShieldTec Lenzing HRC2 Shirt (K84002), and the SYZMIK Lightweight Ripstop X-Back Shirt (ZW187).
- Outerwear & Rainwear: KingGee ShieldTec FR Wet Weather Jacket (PPE3) Y06730 and the SYZMIK Men's FR Arc-Rated Anti-Static Waterproof Jacket (ZJ900).
Are there any specific Fire Retardant FR garments designed for women?
Yes, there are, lately a lot more suppliers have started manufacturing FR workwear for women. Though the range is not huge we do offer a few basic FR apparel for women such as the Syzmik Workwear PPE Womens Ligthweight Shirt ZW170 and the Bisley Apex Women’s Apex Shirt BL8439T which are available in women’s sizing ranging from 6 to 24 and can be ordered in a single mono colour yellow or orange or 2 tone with hi vis orange and navy. Besides shirts, FR pants are the only other option in this range such as the taped version of Bisley Workwear Tencate Tecasafe FR Crago Pants BPL8092T and the Syzmik Workwear PPE Women’s FR Pant ZP522 feature multiple cargo pockets and a durable inherent FR 240gsm 55% modacrylic 43% cotton 2% anti-static fabric.
How should Fire Retardant FR clothing be washed?
Generally, they can be washed just as same as you would with other workwear. The only care is required that the garments are nor subjected to bleach or chlorine and also fabric softeners in the washing machine as they make break down the Flame-resistant fabrics or leave residues after drying.
Can I come into Flash Uniforms in Perth and buy the FR garments in store?
Unfortunately, due to the cost and the large variety of the FR garments we do not stock any of these in store. Most FR Workwear is ordered into the store as we get a confirmed order. Please allow up to 5 working days for the garments to arrive and an additional 5 days if printing or embroidery is required on the garments.
