Are high visibility jackets waterproof?
Some are, it all depends on the style and purpose of the jacket. Some jackets such as the Syzmik Workwear Ultralite Waterpoof Jacket ZJ357 and the Syzmik 4 in 1 Jacket ZJ532 are both waterproof jackets and feature:
- 100% 300D fabric – polyester 300 denier yarn often PU coated to improve protection from the rain
- Seam sealed – stitching point of the garment is covered with a waterproof sealing tape to prevent water seeping in
- Waterproof rating of 10000mm – fabric can withstand 10 metre high column of water before water start penetrating the fabric
- Breathability rating of 2,000 g/m²/24hrs – fabric allows 2kg of water vapour to pass through per meter square in 24 hours

What is the difference between taped and regular hi-vis jackets?
Taped jackets feature a Loxy or 3M reflective tape for better visibility at night or in dark warehouses. Whether you require a taped version of a hi vis jacket or a regular one will depend on the local policies in the work site. Both jackets do provide high visibility due to the bright colour but a taped version further adds a reflective tape for enhanced visibility. What is a heated hi vis jacket?
Heated jackets have recently been very popular, and stock is often limited due to high demand. The only heated hi vis jacket we supply is the Bisley Workwear Heated Jacket BJ6743. Heated jackets generally have a hood and are full padded with an inbuilt heating element and a battery pack. When you feel cold you switch on the heating and off you go you are all warmed up on the job.
Are hi vis jackets available for women?
Yes, they are though the range is limited. Women’s hi vis jackets are mainly supplied by Bisley Workwear and the sizes range from 6-24 and are available with or without tape, pockets, hood and segmented biomotion tape if required.
What is the main difference between softshell hi vis jackets and a rain jacket?
A rain jacket is generally lightweight and doesn’t provide much protection from the cold as they are not padded, their sole purpose is to ensure you do not get wet. Most rain jackets have their seams sealed and feature a hood for head protection. Softshell jackets on the other hand have some protection against wind and the cold as they are sturdier and thicker. A new emerging trend is to get a 4 in 1 jacket or a 5 in 1 jacket which has multiple layers that can be separated and worn separately to cover all requirements of working out in the elements. The outer layers are generally for rain protection, and the inner layers are more for wind and cold weather protection, if the weather changes you can layer up or down depending on your comfort temperature.
